For the last 30 years, I was employed by the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Since 1998, I served as a Drug Treatment Specialist, working with adult male offenders with substance use disorders. The previous 7 years, I was employed in Human Resources and unit management. I left that job due to mandatory retirement. I loved the work because I found it meaningful. Even though the primary focus was a cognitive-behavioral approach to addiction, I counseled our clients regarding grief and loss and relationship issues of all kinds. I enjoyed working with people who had forgotten their own potential and watching them grow and take control of the rest of their lives. I am licensed professional counselor in Oklahoma with over 22 years of professional work experience. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including stress and anxiety, depression, coping with addictions, & anger management. I also helped many people who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse. My therapy style is warm and interactive. I believe in treating anyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't support or believe in stigmatizing labels. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, reality, solution-focused, and rational-emotive therapy. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker currently practicing in Oklahoma. I have a colorful past that gives me insight into many of the issues people face today. I have a great deal of experience in substance abuse and trauma therapies. I attended the University of Oklahoma Social Work program and graduated with honors. I vary my treatment approach to meet your needs and base it on the problems you are facing in your day to day life.
