I wanted a career that allowed me to make a difference by improving the quality of people's lives. Early in my career, I was fortunate to have a mentor who was passionate about pelvic floor care, which sparked my interest in this type of therapy and led me to specialize in pelvic floor therapy. \n In 2020, I became lymphedema certified and started to work with patients who'd been treated for breast cancer. It is in treating this patient population that I feel I'm able to make the biggest difference as a therapist. \n My focus is on patient-centered care. Therapists often have ideas about how to help a patient get better, but we must also be committed to learning about patients' goals and helping them achieve what they want. \n With a pelvic floor specialty, helping patients feel comfortable and encouraging them in their healing are imperative. They can be improved. \n My family and I are originally from Virginia. We moved to North Carolina in 2020 after many years of enjoying our visits here. In 2004, a back injury I sustained while playing volleyball led me to physical therapy (PT). I actually enjoyed my time with the therapist - and PT worked in getting me healthy after that injury - so I decided to pursue it as a career. Since I had always loved science and helping others, it felt like a natural choice. \n When working with my patients, I consider all aspects of fitness and wellness.
