Dr.Saldingerjoins NYP from NewYork-Presbyterian Queens where he serves asChairman of the Department ofSurgeryandSurgeon-in-Chief.He is alsothe Director of theNewYork-Presbyterian surgicalquality and safety programand aProfessor of Clinical Surgery atWeill Cornell Medical College. Adistinguishedandwell-publishedsurgeon,he hasextensiveexpertisein the surgical treatment of cancer and benign disorders of the pancreas,liver, gallbladder, bile ductsand surgical quality improvement. Hestudied medicine at theUniversity of Basel School of Medicine Switzerland,earned his medicaldegree fromSwitzerland's University ofBernSchool of MedicineandaMaster of HealthAdministration from the Mailman School ofPublic Health Columbia University. He completedhis residency inGeneral Surgery at Beth Israel Hospital, Harvard Medical School, andclinical fellowship in hepatobiliarysurgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. Saldinger is afellow of theAmerican College of Surgeons, a member of the Society of University Surgeons,the Society of Surgical Oncology, andthe Society of Surgical Chairsamongst others. He is also amember of the editorial board of the Journalof Gastrointestinal Surgery.
