My name is Cynthia Malek and I am a licensed social worker with LCSW-R and credential substance abuse counselor with CASAC certification. I am also dual licensed in North Carolina as a clinical social worker. I graduated from SUNY Oswego with a bachelor of science in psychology with a minor in fine arts in 2005. My master's degree in social work was earned at Syracuse University in 2008. I specialize in dynamic deconstructive psychotherapy and apply components of dialectic behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, strengths-based therapy, and supportive therapy as appropriate based on individual needs . I employ an eclectic approach in my therapeutic work. I have been trained in EMDR and I hold a certification as a Certified Integrative Mental Health Professional with knowledge of nutrition and holistic therapy interventions.

I am Licenced Clinicial Social Worker and Master Addiction Counselor. I have spent the 40 years in the helping professions. I assist adolescents, adults and couples improve their lives with counseling and therapies. I have effectively assisted people prosess symptoms of anxiety, depression, loss and abuse. I taught graduate level social work students for four years at Rutgers. I also have extensive expertice as an executive and career coach. I have successfully assisted a broad spectrum of persons with a variety of problems including those with more severe illnesses. My focuses in counseling and therapy is always to first get to know the person/ couple seeking assistance and working with them to offer an individualized treatment approach and plan that is specifically developed to help them to successfully address their needs and empower them to improve their lives. I most often find an Integrated Couple Therapy Approach which focuses upon the fact that to have a successful marriage/ relationship couples need to develop the ability to accept the unchangeable and change what can be changed. This realistic premise is at the heart of integrative couple therapy and works well in many instances and I beleive that drawing from a varity flexible intergated appraoch can be one of the best ways to have people take control of their lives and be successful!
