If you're like me and enjoy the facts, here are mine: I graduated from Monmouth University with a Masters of Science in Mental and Clinical Health Counseling. I am currently a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in three states as well as, a Licensed Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC) in the state of New Jersey. I also am a National Certified Counselor (NCC), HIV Certified Counselor, and Disaster Response Crisis Counselor (DRCC). I have about ten years of experience working in various levels of care with mental health, substance abuse, and dual diagnosis clients. During sessions I utilize primarily cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavior therapy however, I believe that each client is unique and tailor my approach to be client centered. I am certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and enjoy utilizing EMDR skills in session. I focus on finding solutions, building strengths, and improving negative thought patterns. The therapeutic process can be overwhelming, but I pride myself on working side by side with my clients every step of the way and being an extremely strong advocate for each client. My passion for helping humans developed at an early age and only continued to grow as I observed people around me struggle with various issues in life. Over my years in the mental health and substance abuse industry, I have noticed a pattern. Hi! My name is Denise and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of North Carolina and Florida as well as a Licensed Independent Social Worker- CP in the state of South Carolina. I graduated from Norfolk State University's Graduate School of Social Work in 2000, concentrating in Family Systems Practice and Hampton University with a Bachelors of Arts in 1995. I have been a therapist for over 15 years with degrees in psychology and clinical social work, as stated above. I specialize in mood and adjustment disorders such as depression and anxiety as well as trauma associated disorders, but have worked with a variety of disorders dealing with, but not limited to behaviors, relationships and grief. I have been practicing professionally since 1995 and have my masters of science in counseling and human relations from Villanova University. I believe strongly in meeting clients where they are - person centered therapy - and then working with them using a blended counseling model to help them reach their goals. I am a certified clinical trauma professional, a certified advanced alcohol and drug counselor and a certified co occurring disorders professional diplomate. I use narrative trauma therapy as well as motivational interviewing and psychodynamic psychotherapy dependent upon needs of each individual person.
