As a doctor of family medicine, I value the relationships I can form with my patients and their families. I enjoy seeing patients of all ages, from newborns to adults. Along with general family medicine, I have particular interests in women's health, family planning and procedures.

I came to HealthPartners in 2002 after serving four years in the Air Force, spending a fabulous year in Korea, then three years in Minot. I started with HealthPartners at the Apple Valley Clinic, but have been at the Eagan Clinic since October 2011. I appreciate how close the Eagan Clinic is to my home, just a short drive or bike ride to work. It's also convenient to my son's school for volunteering there when I can. I chose family medicine for the variety it offers, and I've not regretted my decision. I love the different patients of all ages and backgrounds, and the various issues and concerns. I enjoy doing a few procedures in the clinic, as well, and family medicine has given me the ability to do all of that. I genuinely believe in primary care and enjoy getting to know our patients over the years.

I am excited to be serving patients as a family practice provider. I was born and raised in Minnesota and earned my nursing degrees in North Dakota. After several years of work in hospitals, primarily with children, I moved to Colorado where I had the privilege of working in rural and community facilities caring for underserved and vulnerable populations. These experiences evoked my passion for providing holistic family care by attending to physical, emotional and basic human needs. I chose to practice in family medicine because I enjoy many fields of medicine, but areas of particular interest include preventive care, women's health and the management of diabetes, hypertension and thyroid. I believe it is imperative to collaborate with my patients in their health care decisions, and learn all the factors in their lives that may encourage or prevent them from achieving their wellness goals. I also incorporate alternative therapies and supplements when appropriate to treat chronic conditions.

As a family medicine doctor, I enjoy providing care for families in the context of their communities. I particularly enjoy treating patients of all ages, cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds. I firmly believe that patients' emotional health is just as important as their physical health in determining their overall well-being.

I love my job as a family practitioner because I truly enjoy caring for patients of all ages, from newborns to the more mature. It is rewarding and helpful to me to care for members of the same family. I prefer my patients to act as partners in their health care and to participate in decision-making as much as possible. I expect that we listen, respect and educate each other, all with a good dose of humor.
