This provider has no reviewsCounselingPO Box 999Duluth, MN 558113.0 miles awayBiography"You don't have to control your thoughts. You just have to stop letting them control you." I am a licensed clinician in the state of Minnesota specializing in treating co-occurring disorders. I am particularly passionate about helping individuals dealing with unresolved trauma and certified in several evidence -based trauma focused therapy modalities. Whatever emotional pain you may be experiencing, is not something that should be hidden away and never spoken about. There is truth in your pain, there is growth in your pain, but only if it's first brought out into the open. Keeping pain inside is scary and isolating. I am available to walk with you on the journey to recovery.

Rated 5.0 out of 5 starsCounselingPO Box 999Duluth, MN 558113.0 miles awayBiographyHi! Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me. My name is Alice Congdon and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in Minnesota. I have been in the helping profession since 2008 and have 8 years experience as a therapist. I have worked in a variety of settings: client's homes, schools, places of employment and in office. I have experience as a Personal Care Assistant, Job Coach, Direct Service Professional, Mental Health Practitioner, In-patient Therapist, and Outpatient Therapist. I have interned in a chemical dependency rehabilitation facility (that focused on minority women) as well as interned in multiple K-12 schools. My experiences have helped shape the therapy I do today. I have the most experience working with Depression, Anxiety, Addictions, Relationship Conflicts, and Life Transitions. I also have experience with Bipolar Disorders, PTSD, ADHD, OCD, Hoarding, Grief & Loss, and Spiritual Issues. I consider myself a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist as well as Solution-Focused Brief Therapist. I also utilize Existential, Multicultural, Motivational Interviewing, Family and other therapies as needed. I believe in looking at all the individual pieces that make up the entire person and assessing how each aspect of a person's life contributes to their overall functionality or dysfunction. In session, we work to develop insight and connect that to daily, weekly, and long-term goals. I look to create a sense of hope within a person that will motivate them to achieve their goals. I believe ultimately that YOU are the expert on your life! You know yourself better than anyone and have the final say in goals and interventions that we practice. Having said that, my role will be to provide safety, confidentiality, empathy, and a non-judgmental atmosphere. I think therapy is like driving a car: we occasionally glance back to see where we have been, while mainly looking forward to where we are going and focusing on the present moment. I am excited to start our journey together! Please be advised I can only Video & Phone sessions during evening sessions. I am available for Messaging and Live Chat during the morning/ afternoon session ( and any other available sessions). Thank you!

We react by either processing or projecting it & this pattern will continue to repeat itself until it is addressed. That pattern prevents a major human function from happening, which is to feel the truth of all our feelings to some degree. Both men & women, boys & girls are shamed away from feelings, often through violence, abuse or neglect whether by families or culture. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor & Addictions (LADC-S) Counselor-that has worked in the fields of addiction, corrections, social work and mental health recovery for 15+ years, providing clinical services in a wide array of settings. As a therapist, my goal is to empower clients to build fulfilling, values-rich lives. I work with individuals and couples in recovery (The Gottman Method Certified Levels 1&2). We will work together to develop insight, identify personal values, and implement skills that will foster growth. I use an integrated approach including; Gottman Therapy, Adlerian, Schema Based, Solution Focused, Cognitive Processing, Somatic Experiencing, Polyvagal Theory-Informed, Mindfulness and other skills based therapies/interventions to support learning, symptom management. I approach therapy with directness and a sense of humor. I've learned much about the human experience no one is immune to suffering. Everyone experiences pain. Healing is truly the risk of showing up for yourself and your resistance to temptation to go back to unsilenced needs, numbing out, disconnection, and erasure. As a black, gender non-binary Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), I have a personal stake and insight into the work I do. As you are aware, we are living in unprecedented times. My clinical practice aims to empower and heal individuals, families & communities through therapy, consulting, case management, training, & community outreach. Since graduating with my Master's in Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania in 2013, I have worked with folks across a wide array of presenting concerns, including managing symptoms of anxiety, mood dysregulation, and depression, healing with/from trauma, managing grief and loss, recovery from substance abuse and addiction, chronic illness, & LGBT issues. I work with clients at every stage of development in 1:1, couples, and family sessions. The feedback I receive from clients is that they find me to be innovative, caring and nonjudgmental, and they appreciate that I am responsive, honest and direct with them. You can expect me to walk with you through whatever difficulties you are facing and help you learn more about yourself and the way you interact with the world.
