Dr. Vernon sees patients at our Denver and Colorado Springs locations.Dr. Ben Vernon is a native of Iowa. After graduating from Harvard College and Harvard Medical School he completed residency training in general surgery at Duke University. After a combined transplant fellowship at University of Wisconsin and Duke, he joined the Duke surgery faculty. Since 1992 Dr. Vernon has practiced kidney, pancreas and liver transplant surgery and general surgery in Denver. He has served on the UNOS Kidney and Pancreas Committee, as Region 8 Councilor for UNOS, and on the board of directors for UNOS, the OPTN, and Donor Alliance. Dr. Vernon is a past president of the Colorado Medical Society and the Arapahoe Douglas Elbert Medical Society. His transplant experience includes over 1000 kidney transplants and over 300 pancreas transplants.

Dr. Young relocated to Denver in 2005 after completing a two-year surgical oncology fellowship at the John Wayne Cancer Institute in Santa Monica, California. His prior education and training was via general surgery residency at Michigan State University/Grand Rapids, a medical degree at the University of North Dakota, and an undergraduate BA at Concordia College in Moorehead, Minnesota.Dr. Youngs interests include all areas of surgical oncology with emphasis on esophageal, hepatobiliary, gastro-intestinal, melanoma, and sarcomatous disease. He has written, published,and presented nationally and internationally on the surgical treatment of various oncologic diseases. He has conducted basic science research in the field of oncology. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons (ACS), the Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO), the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), and the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR).
