Got my wisdom teeth out here yesterday
Explained everything really well with all risks and precautions and options and everything. Very helpful before and after the procedure and now less than 24 hours later and I have very minimal swelling and very minimal pain.

Dr. Houting took out all four of my wisdom teeth - two were impacted, and two were erupted. Came in around August before I went to DC for school for an evaluation and then when I came back in December for break I had them removed shortly after Christmas. Super easy process and I had little to no pain afterward. I requested to be put under anesthesia, and it went super smooth. One thing I will mention (only because other reviews are not so good) is that he's very straight-forward with his practice, which I found refreshing. For me personally, I just wanted my wisdom teeth out and done with and I didn't care how they were done. He was very professional, knew what he was doing, and did a great job. He's not there to chat by any means, but I wasn't looking to have a heart-to-heart right before I lost conscious so it was perfect for me.

Great Experience - Ignore bad reviews
I was initially hesitant about going to Dr. Houting due to some negative reviews I read online, but I must say that my experience was nothing but positive, and I am happy I went there. I had four wisdom teeth removed (two were impacted, and two were erupted). During my visit, the staff was very friendly. Dr. Houting explained the procedure and asked several times if I had any questions. I chose IV sedation because two of my teeth were impacted, and I wanted to be under to avoid pain. I experienced little to no pain during the procedure, and minimal pain (so far) after the medication wore off. Overall I had a great experience at this office and would recommend it!

Have been to Dr. Houting 3 or 4 times. All extractions. No pain except for last visit & was expected with 3 molars extracted. Was frozen & had gas. He was very professional. I go an oral surgeon for results & not to have my hand held! The staff couldn't be nicer.

Dr Houting was not thorough when it came to much! He didnt explain anything to me during or after my procedure. I had gotten two of my wisdom teeth out, instead of all 4. I chose to stay awake, have the lidocaine shots and 'laughing gas'. He came in to give me my shots, I instantly started crying as it felt like the needle was jabbed into my gums, repeatedly. Waited about 7-8 minutes (usually 15-20 min) till he came in to start the procedure. He started digging into one of my teeth, I immediately winced in pain as I could still feel everything. He then gave me another round of shots, both sides. Came back in shortly after and started again on the other side, I could still feel it, yet another round of shots were given. He went on with the procedure, not so nice at all. Pulling so hard on my tooth, my head would move and almost lift off the table. They had to readjust the 'laughing gas' that was over my nose multiple times! The amount of pressure I felt him put onto my tooth/socket, was

I had a very positive experience with Dr. Houting and his staff. I had a molar extracted and found the procedure to be pain free. Due to my COPD they could not give me a general anesthesia, so I was awake for the entire procedure. The Doctor explained the procedure and performed the extraction in a very professional manner. I was a little worried about the experience due to some negative reviews that I had read on here. I am here to state that in my case I was treated very well considering they were extracting a large tooth. My fears generated by the negative experience of a former patient were unfounded. Finally I have not experienced any post-operative problems and remain pain free to this day.

Cons:1) Did not completely explain what procedure was going to be used in doing dental post implant 2) Pain issue NOT addressed during procedure, in fact, restrained as "worried I would grab" 3) not a 'warm, fuzzy" manner Pro:1) to get in for recheck when a problem was expedient, Staff: Very pleasant but again, not on cue with patient cues exhibited when in pain

Does not explain his procedures at all and restrains patients unnecessarily...went to another physician and they explained how what was done was not the proper way. Would be very concerned with his expertise and results.
