my experience with Dr. Handa
Telehealth
I never met a provider like Handa, she is the worse doctor I have ever seen. she does not take time to explain anything to me, by the way she does not know how to communicate with me, when I talk to her, she ignores me or turns her back. she has no compassion, she is heartless, helpless and careless; she is rude and awful, she does not introduce herself or say bye. When I told her about my condition is getting worse, she yelled at me instead of saying something to calm me. She picks the wrong profession; she makes you feel like you are not a person because the way she approaches you. This is a painful, awful and horrible experience for me.

TERRIBLE ATTITUDE; NEVER answers calls nor message
Went there for TMJ problem and she recommended a night guard. Both the technician who scanned my teeth and Dr. Handa said the night guard was fully covered by my insurance, but I received a $2k bill as the insurance complained about the item name in the claim issued by the medical office. Called the office more than 10 times, on different weekdays and different time in day. The call is always answered by a recording that said "Christine" is not available to pick up your call. She called me back once, but I was in a meeting and could not answer it. Then she wrote a message in PatientGateway (MGH's system) saying that she already explained to me in the phone on my inquiries. Terrible lies and attitudes. Totally unacceptable! Would not recommend this doctor and her outrageous assistant. Try someone else or somewhere else.

Dr Hands is the BEST!!!
Yes, the wait time is long. 6 months. Why is it so long ? Because there are no specialists in this field (that’s not her fault!) and in fact Dr. Honda, after two plus years, is the only one that helped me with my TMJ and she is working on her maternity leave !! so I wouldn’t say that about another chief of dental medicine at a different hospital ( the Brigham.) He is not helpful. She knows her stuff clinically, and obviously is dedicated to her clinic. She’s amazing.

Not helpful at all. Made me feel like I shouldn't have even been there though I was there because my Dr referred me. I read the notes in Gateway post visit and they were not at all representative of the facts. Ive never written a negative Dr review before but this was frankly a really poor patient experience.

Dr Handa does not know much about pain medications and what the optimal dosage is for each type of pain medication. Her patient history that she wrote was incorrect and she never responds to any emails or phone calls you send to her. She delegates all her work to her residents. As a doctor she is non existent. She also does not explain anything. I don't think she could care less about her job. She does however want to make money and will keep prescribing medications to you so you have to keep coming back for them.

I met Dr. Handa last year and was told my issue was small fiber neuropathy and I was referred to another doctor. After a number of appointments and many hours of continued pain, I was informed that I did not have small fiber neuropathy. I went back 12 months later to see Dr. Handa and spent more time with her resident doctor than with her. He was excellent. She obviously did not look at my file because she considered me a new patient. She spent just a few minutes in the office. She has very poor patient relations. I told the resident point blank "I like you -I don't like her." If not for him, I would not return to this office. If I could give a rating of 0, that's would I give to Dr. Handa.

Poor Patient Relations – Feb 10, 2021

Not a great experience. Came in with a TMJ issue and was barely examined. Basically told I would probably just have to learn to live with it. I have better providers to turn to thankfully. Can't recommend this office to others.

I went to see Dr Handa to treat my TMJ. It took forever to get an appointment and what a disappointment she was. First, I waited about a ½ hr to be seen. They took a panaramic X-ray of my mouth (total waste of $$) before I saw Dr Handa. She came in stood her distance (which was fine) and asked me a bunch of questions related to my TMJ. I was most annoyed by my jaw clicking, told her so and she said well if it’s not so bad maybe you can get use to it. She started giving me a bunch of instructions and prescription medicines I could use. I told her there was no way I could remember all of this. She said the attendent in the room will review (she gave me printouts and crossed out and added information). Dr Handa, took a very cursory look at my jaw, told me to check back in 6 mos and left. Then to boot, when I checked my visit write up on the Gateway app, they listed the right side of my mouth as the problem, it is the left! Seeing her was a waste of my time!
