I was referred to Dr. Johnson for a simple straight forward extraction towards the end of Sept. 2020. I went to his office to have the tooth pulled. I was there for over an hour filling out forms and answering questions. Then I was told this is just a consultation and I would have to return for the extraction. The doctor kept referring to the extraction as a "surgical procedure". In Oct. I was given an appointment for the extraction. On that date I was given a numbing agent to the extraction area. Four electrodes were applied to my chest for monitoring purposes. I then had to wait 40 minutes for the doctor to come & pull the tooth, which took all of ten minutes at the most. I was charged over and above my insurance $61 to cover the cost of the electrode monitoring (insurance does not cover electrode monitoring for local anesthesia as it considers it unnecessary). That charge for the electrode monitoring just seems like a way to pad the bill. I will never go back to him

In November 2017 I took my 12 year old daughter to have four teeth extracted. On the day of the procedure, the office staff took my insurance card to process the claim. After approximately 20 minutes, the receptionist told me that they have contacted my insurance carrier by telephone and have confirmed that the entire procedure was covered except for my co-pay. I paid the co-pay and left. Almost 1 year later, I received a bill from Dr. Johnson's office for a little over $900. I went back to the office to question the bill and the staff said that part of the procedure was not covered and that they would resubmit the claim. A few months later I received a bill for a little over $1500. I went back to the office and the staff did not know what the problem was but it appeared that a billing mistake had occurred and they would get back to me. I just received a bill again for $1500+ saying that I am 120 days overdue. DO NOT USE DR. JOHNSON'S PRACTICE - QUESTIONABLE BILLING PRACTICES!!
