Dr. James Burden, DDS

If I could give zero stars I would. I almost got suckered into thousands and I mean THOUSANDS of dollars of work...that was NOT needed. He is all about money, and doesn't care about the patient. I felt like I was dealing with a car salesman when setting up my 'needed' treatment plan. I've never paid so much money for a cleaning, and that's not even what I was there for. Unless you feel like throwing money away, stay away from this office!

When I moved to the area I called and asked if they took my insurance. I was told “we take everyone” so I booked an appointment. When I went to my appointment I learned what they meant was they don’t bill insurance. Every step of the appointment involved their sales person stepping in and making me sign for new line items. At the end of the appointment (basic cleaning that cost me hundreds out of pocket) they plopped me into their “sales room” and tried to get me to schedule and finance 800 dollars worth of procedures that they knew was 100% covered by my insurance if I went to another practice 100 ft. down the road. I have spent the last year trying and failing to unsubscribe from their endless marketing via mail, email, and text. Their office is lovely and flashy, the care was fine. If price is no object this place would be great. But it’s clear the core of the business model is profit. Hard pass for me.

Stay away! All they need is your $$$

I've been using him for well over 10 years. He does exceptional work and he and his staff are up to date on all the new technology. Implants, bridges, crowns, just minor fillings, he does it all. No being switched to a different dentist for removal, etc.

His staff don’t listen to the patients. I guess that as long as you pay them that’s all that matters and they don’t do follow up with the patients. Very bad service.

From my experience and in my opinion, Dr. Burden is unprofessional in his manner. Lack of dedication to patient care is apparent in my opinion. He doesn't seem to have empathy for his patients.

Had procedure recommended by them and now I'm in excruciating pain and spending valuable time and money trying to fix their mistake.

Oh how we miss Dr Burden and staff.. was a patient from late 90s until a couple years ago when my dental insurance changed !!! Wish he accepted Aetna , i haven’t found a dentist comparable since!

Dr. B is wonderful. Went in for a root canal and he did an excellent job and no pain. ?? The entire staff from the time I called for this emergency dental work, to his Assistants and checking out were all so professional and nice. I would recommend Dr. Burden to anyone who lives in Williamsburg!

Excellent service and unbelievable results. 5/5 would recommend! The dentists are so friendly and do a great and thourougj job!

I've gone to dr burden since I was 4-5 and I'm now 22 and travel back home from roanoke,va while in college for any concerns I'm having or when I just need a cleaning. He listens to everything and does a great job. I've never had a cavity and he helps to take care of my teeth. The staff is very friendly as well and will answer all your questions.

It's disheartening to see any negative reviews on here. I've been taking my son to see Dr.Burden for 8 years now and would never consider seeing anyone else. He's always professional and good natured, even when my son threatened to bite him 8 years ago during our first visit (He's never liked going to the dentist) Dr. Burden handled it perfectly. The staff needs to be mentioned as well! They are so fantastic! All of them! The warmest, friendliest & professional dentist office we've ever been to!

I am afraid of needles and Dr Barrett was very calming and courteous. He explained what he was going to do and encouraging to let me know when he was going to use needle. He took out three rotten teeth in 15 min and was the kindest dentist I have had in 55 years. I highly recommend him and hope he stays with Dr Burdens office.

Loved everybody. Trusted them with my care. So far I am not disappointed.

New to the area and responded to magazine new patient offer. Staff was very friendly but wait time over an hour for consultation. Dentist I actually saw was much much older than dentist they advertise in brochure with, and after picking and digging at a current filling he announced that I will need to replace the filling! Felt it was a farm, collecting patients, quotes were high and I was suspicious when they scanned my quote after I signed it, even though it was just a consultation.

You can definitely tell who the managers are in the office (and that is not a good thing). I would never recommend this business to my worst enemy. I had no choice but to come for multiple visits and there was always new Doctors! I was introduced to a new Doctor almost every time and was told my previous Doctor is no longer there. This makes me question how the employees are treated here.
