Dr. Irene Tan, DDS

Dr. Tan has been my dentist for 20+ years. She has always been honest with the dental work that is needed or not needed. I have already moved out of the bay area. But I continue to go to her because she is such a trustworthy dentist and person who do high quality work!!! All the dental work she has done for me last for years with no rework required. In addition, she is a very nice person. Sometimes, I feel really bad for her because she has to put up with some of her really rude and unreasonable patients. As you see in one of the other reviews, some patients feel so entitled just because they are Dr. Watters' (Dr. Tan's predecessor) old patients. Bottom line is if you are looking for a good honest dentist who do high quality work, go to Dr. Irene Tan in Los Altos, CA. You will be glad you did!

After going to her predecessor, Dr. Watters, for decades, to his teacher at Stanford since childhood, and to Dr. Tan when she took over the practice, I decided to switch when she recommended a crown for something another dentist felt could be fixed with a filling. Since then a couple of my old crowns have come out so I tried to get my records for my new dentist. The practice didn't remember me, even though I and my parents had been going for decades, and said the records had been destroyed, only two years after I left. I was shocked! Relieved we all switched.

I'm a long time patient and I have very little trust in Dr. Tan. The reason is that over the years she has suggested unnecessary procedures (not optional procedures, but unnecessary ones). For example, saying that cavities need tobe filled when they are not close to real cavities and not even sticky. Two of these were booked for immediate appts. a whopping several years ago, yet are fine still even now, and confirmed by another dentist to need nothing done. Beware! Dentist, not office, matters.
