Dr. Howard Cunningham, DDS

My first visit to Dr Cunningham was because of a dental emergency. I had lived in Florida for about 12 years and never had need for a local dentist (or so I thought) as I would travel back to my hometown in NY 4x a year for cleanings as I have never really had any problems with my teeth and only trusted my long standing relationship with my Dr up north until I split a bottom toot. A friend of mine reccomended I call Dr Cunningham's office to see if he could see me ASAP. The receptionist was extremely helpful/sympathetic to my need. They took me in right away. What a great experience it was for me to meet such a bright, compassionate professional as Dr Cunningham. I kept him as my new dentist no longer feeling the need to travel back to NY for my dental needs/services. His hygienists and entire staff are remarkable!

Tried to make an appointment and the office manager was RUDE and very Nasty. He tired to verify my insurance coverage and he called an automated system that was not able to locate my benefits. He called me to have me listen to the automated system that stated that the member was not found. I stated he should speak with a representative to get my benefits. His reply in a nasty tone "DO YOU KNOW HOW LONG THAT WILL TAKE ME?" He then said "CALL YOURSELF AND HAVE THEM CALL ME". (The insurance company was the one who gave me Dr Cunningham as a provider). I am a health care provider myself and many times automated systems are unable to pull up the benefits of my patients, I would then speak to a live representative to verify benefits. FOR AN OFFICE MANAGER TO TELL A PATIENT THIS IS HORRIBLE. I asked to speak to the doctor and he told me "NO" and hung up on me. After reading other reviews, apparently this office manager has a history of this behavior towards patients. I WOULD NEVER GO HERE

I've been seeing Dr Cunningham for 11 years and have had nothing but the best of care. Any concerns you have he will carefully discuss with you and not just dismiss them in a hurry. His office is up to date. His staff is caring, professional, friendly and even funny. I highly recommend.

Good dentist, but his office person (manager) is horribly snippy, and constantly cuts you off while you are speaking. I had been a patient of Dr. Cunningham's for at least 15 years, but tolerated this behavior for far longer than I should have allowed.

I previously posted a good review. Unfortunately, today I have to retract it. When I tried to inform the dentist, in person, about a mishandling of scheduling by a person on his staff, I was confronted by a very unprofessional and severe case of anger management issues. You would think that any medical professional is conscientious of their duty to at least hear what the patient is trying to say. You would expect the same from any civil person. Making presumptions in advance and cutting the patient off with aggressive interrogations instead of actually listening fairly is uncalled for. Turns out, you never really know what lurks inside a person until you see the monster reveal itself in an irrational episode of rage.

Dr. Cunningham's knowledge of dentistry is incredible and he doesn't rush you as you're trying to explain your problem. Aside from being personable, when I arrive on time I rarely have to wait more than a few minutes (2-3) before someone takes me into the exam room. He's got really great staff who are always prepared with answers to our questions. The quality of the care we've always received has been excellent and he seems to be always current on the latest dental technology.
