Dr. Baker damaged my son's face. First, he prescribed rapid palatal expansion with two key turns a day. I later learned that this practice is no longer used in reputable practices. On PubMed, there are many papers describing how palatal expansion at 2 turns at day will crack the bridge of the nose. That's exactly what happened with my son. I turned his key on the 6th day and he had explosive pain in his nose. Within a few weeks, he started to develop a hump on his nose. Over a year later, the pain has just started to go away, but the hump will always be there - and I will always be reminded that I broke my child's nose and his face will never be the same. My son was referred to Dr. Baker because he is a mouth breather. He is only 5, so was not thinking he would need to see an orthodontist. Dr. Baker took about 30 minutes to do a free consultation with measurements and great explanations of what he found. There are a lot of things that can be done at a young age to help with pallate growth and to decrease the potential for needing braces in the future. More importantly he found that my son had a very obstructed airway due to large adenoids. We are
